Expanding the reach and scope of interventional, live music programs
Based on the premise established by Dr. Neema Sharda’s academic paper, Bach to Basics: Implementation and Impact of a Postoperative, Inpatient Personalized Music Program for Older Adults, perioperative, interventional music programs are a non-pharmacological, safe, and inexpensive alternative to help mitigate and lessen pain and anxiety in patients.
Music Over Mind has pledged to bring the power of music to heal the grander population of patients in North Carolina. Retirement homes and assisted-living facilities have been the cornerstone of our reach thus far, but hospitals and large scale patient-care facilities are showing an immense demand for Music Over Mind’s music programs.
Music Over Mind utilizes the efficacy of interventional music programs and the invaluable interpersonal connection that live performances catalyze between patients and musicians.
We seek to transcend the one-sided approach of static music arrangements played through headsets in traditional interventional programs by enabling patients to openly interact with musicians and truly experience the fervor of music at the deepest level.
Our professional, partnered music artists of all backgrounds and instrumentation classes will be given an opportunity to impact and touch patients within hospitals, clinics, and retirement facilities. Patients will have the freedom to choose their preferred type of musician through Music Over Mind’s catalog of artists ranging from performers specializing in brass, strings, percussion, and singers.
Sadly for many artists, the opportunity to make a decent living through their passion of performing is often met with the encumbering impediment of hyper-competitive markets for musicians. Music Over Mind seeks to bridge the gap between extraordinarily talented musicians and patients that can benefit from the immense power of interventional music programs.
In 2024, Music Over Mind will make its live music programs more accessible than ever with its commitment to expand to more hospitals, clinics, and retirement homes than ever before: from the Triangle and beyond.
